Oak Flower Essence
A mentor of mine used to remind me that most humans overestimate what they are capable of in the short-term and underestimate what they are capable of in the longterm. I’m certainly guilty of this. Oak is an excellent remedy correcting for this faulty logic. It helps us to pace ourselves and recognize that great things are accomplished not through singular heroic acts but life-long persistence and incremental progress.
Oak invites us to integrate the wisdom that no period of our life is any more precious than another. Life is lived in month by month, day by day, hour by hour—though it may be only the years or even the decades that we choose to remember. Its medicine connects us with the pleasure inherent in any process we choose to be fully present for. It reminds us that when we focus only on results, we lose out on the joy of the journey.
Oak helps us to strengthen our resolve and to persevere even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. These qualities make it a valuable ally for anyone struggling to overcome addiction, leave an unhappy situation that has gone on for too long, or make a change in their life that seems to require a herculean effort.
Oak helps us remain open to the possibility of guidance from unseen allies. When we feel alone, Oak reminds us that there is always support available. Like any good elder, Oak wants what’s best for us, and is always there to help us remember that we are capable of excellence.
